The Global Microencapsulation Market Size is expected to reach USD 39.00 Billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 12.5% during the forecast period 2023 to 2033.

Microencapsulation is a technology that involves the coating of a compound by extremely small polymeric-coated capsules forming small particles called microcapsules, having an average diameter 1 – 100 µm. It has wide application in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, agrochemical and food industries, functioning as encapsulating essential oils, colorings, flavorings, sweeteners, and microorganisms. The polymer coat membrane of the microcapsule dissolves itself, releasing the core at the desired site or area of action without getting adversely affected by the environment through which it passes. The primary function of microencapsulation is to increase the stability and shelf-life of the product, providing a controlled release of the core contents. It act as a barrier for control release, solubility, and bioavailability of the drug and can also mask unpleasant flavors and aromas. There is market growth of microencapsulation technology in the pharmaceutical industry as it plays a key role in the development of control release drug delivery systems of active drugs such as cisplatin, lidocaine, naltrexone, progesterone, insulin, proteins, peptides, and vaccines. The rising adoption and R&D of microencapsulation by small and medium-scale end-users promote its market. For example, Potenza Argan Oil, an encapsulated argan oil has an effective shelf life. New technology towards usage of microencapsulation technology for drug delivery in cancer and brain tumors is a new microencapsulation market opportunity.
